"How close is Edwin Van der Sar to a new world record for consecutive clean sheets?" asks Ellis Roberts. Not very is the short answer, Ellis. Van der Sar's 13th consecutive league clean sheet for Manchester United at the weekend doesn't even take him into the top 10 best goalkeeping shut-outs. The Dutchman has gone 1,212 minutes without conceding, but he'll need another seven clean sheets for Sir Alex Ferguson's side to overhaul the current No1 No1. The Fifa-approved International Federation of Football History & Statistics lists the 10 best ever goalkeeping spells as follows: 1 Mazaropi (Vasco da Gama, Brazil) 1,816mins 2 Thabet El-Batal (National, Egypt) 1,442mins 3 Dany Verlinden (Club Brugge, Belgium) 1,390mins 4 José María Buljubasich (Universidad Católica Santiago, Argentina) 1,352mins 5 Thabet El-Batal (National, Egypt) 1,325mins 6 Essam El-Hadari (National, Egypt) 1,288mins 7 Abel Resino (Atlético Madrid, Spain) 1,275mins 8 Gaëtan Huard (Bordeaux, … [Read more...] about How close is Edwin Van der Sar to a new world record?

By Anna Rumer - December 11, 2019 09:56 am EST Share 0 Comments 0 Even a world record weightlifter is no match for Bart the grizzly bear when it comes to the King of the Mountain challenge on Man vs. Bear. In a PopCulture.com exclusive sneak peek of Wednesday's new episode of the Discovery show, the athlete who set a bench press world record at just 19 years old is knocked completely off his feet as the 1,400-lb. bear on the other end of the rope shows off his natural skill and strength. Mike is clearly intimidated by Bart when walking up to the start line, and with good reason. "We need to restate, not just the force and the ferocity of Bart, but the possible damage that he can inflict to the shoulder," Brandon Tierney, Emmy Award-winning sports commentator, reminds the audience. "If that thing is tugged in the wrong direction, that could pop." Wildlife expert and filmmaker Casey Anderson chimes in, "That's what bears do out there. They don't often make an … [Read more...] about ‘Man vs. Bear’: Watch World Record Athlete Take on Bart the Grizzly in Intense Exclusive Sneak Peek
With just 20 days to go for a new decade to begin, it's no surprise that most are recalling moments that have made the year for them. And it is no different for the popular micro-blogging social media platform, Twitter. On Tuesday, the website shared an annual round-up of the most popular tweets (likes and retweets), politicians, musicians, sports personalities, and more. When it comes to the most retweeted post, Korean septet group BTS takes the top spot. The tweet, which features Jungkook jamming along to Billie Eilish's hit track Bad Guy, currently has a whooping 1.1 million retweets and counting. But the win comes with a rather amusing backstory. Duh😛 https://t.co/3lGmo7GpF6— 방탄소년단 (@BTS_twt) 1560101686000 Initially, the top retweeted post went to the World Record Egg, which had 958,000 retweets while the BTS tweet soon followed in second place. Ajax helped East Kilbride celebrate surpassing their world record of 26 successive wins after the Scottish Lowland League club secured a 3-1 victory against BSC Glasgow at K-Park on Saturday. An Ajax-branded van drove on to the pitch at full-time filled with 27 crates of beer for East Kilbride’s players and staff and a congratulatory video message from Edwin van der Sar, who is now a marketing director for the Dutch club. “Many thanks to [Ajax] and [Van der Sar] for the message of congratulations and the 27 crates of beer!” the club tweeted. “Touch of class!” Their midfielder Declan Hughes opened the scoring and, with the score at 2-1 with five minutes remaining, Hughes bent in a free-kick to make sure of the team’s feat. The win surpassed Ajax’s run in the 1971-72 season led by Johan Cruyff, but will not be officially recognised by Guinness World Records as East Kilbride, who play in the fifth tier, are not a top-level side.
