Book collections for poor kids Tran Mai Room to Read, a non-profit organization focused on girls' education and children's literacy in Asia and Africa, has had an initiative to launch a collection of picture books with colorful and cute paintings to serve children in remote areas of Vietnam for free. One of the targets of Room to Read (RR) is to help build and develop the reading habit of elementary students. And picture books are one of the major publications by RR not for commercial purposes but serving as gifts to libraries in remote areas. One of the differences of RR’s creations compared to other similar books is to nurture the natural development of kids’ mind by both the content and form of the books. Kids have freedom to think and imagine by their own mind, not be imposed by adults’ thoughts. Traffic safety program launched to raise traffic awareness amongst elementary students
The Ministry of Education and Training, the National Traffic Safety Committee and Toyota Company officially announced the program “ Toyota and I learn traffic safety in academic year 2016-2017” and drawing competition themed “Dream car”. With the goal of raising traffic awareness and knowledge of elementary pupils across the country, the traffic safety program will have two meetings to exchange knowledge of traffic safety in provinces and across the country, focusing on skills in driving, drawing in teams on traffic safety, poetry writing and performing a lesson model on the theme. Participants should employ new methods of teaching with exciting and useful teaching materials, thus making traffic safety lesson more interesting, catchy and easy to understand for students. ‘Super Crab Car’ grabs gold for VN
VietNamNet Bridge – Bui Thanh Mai, 8, of Ninh Binh Province, has become the only Vietnamese child to win the gold medal at Toyota's World Dream Car Art Contest held in Japan last August. Mai's painting, entitled, Super Crab Car, beat more than 662,000 paintings made by local primary students and over 600 shortlisted works by children of 75 countries and territories to win the contest. Mai is currently a third grader at the Le Hong Phong Primary School in Tam Diep Town. Contest teaches primary pupils about road safety
About 250 children from 15 provinces nationwide took part in the National Traffic Safety Contest for Primary School Pupils in Ho Chi Minh City on April 2-3. "Traffic safety education is considered to be the most important, urgent issue for the education sector," said Tran Quang Quy, deputy minister of Education and Training. The contest consisted of four main parts, including traffic safety knowledge, drawing pictures, performing role plays and composing poems, and writing and performing folk songs with new lyrics. Interesting games related to traffic safety and other activities were created to create a fun, joyful learning atmosphere.
